Em Not Looking
NaNoWriMo word count: 10,980 (still behind schedule but gaining speed)
Someone posted a link on the NaNoWriMo message boards to the Infinite Cat website. It's so cool. You can take a picture of your cat watching a cat on the monitor, watching a cat on the monitor, watching a cat on the monitor. It's such a great idea. The link I included above goes to the first page of cat pics, but you can click on any of the little yellow cats in the rows at the top to go to any page of pictures. You can click on any picture and view them as a slideshow. To start with the first cat, click here.
I tried to take a picture of Emily to submit, but she just didn't understand how it works.
Me: "Emily, look at the monitor! See the kitties?"
Em::"No, Mama, I won't look directly at it, I won't."
Me: "Why not, Honey?"
Em: "It'll burn my corneas."
Me: "Oh, Sweetie, that's an eclipse, not a computer monitor."
Em: "Oh."

Did you know if you use a series of five asterisks like that, with spaces in
between, the NaNo word counter counts it as five words? Cool, huh? Every little
bit helps.
I am loving the whole experience, and the story I am doing is so fun. I'm just
woefully behind in my word count. I have to write another 228% (roughly) of what
I have written already, by Tuesday night, to be on track for the middle of the
month. That's another 14,020 words. There is a chance I may not make 50,000 by
the 30th. Or on the other hand, I may be able to pick up some speed and just
make it. But I won't be at 25,000 by Tuesday night.
Anyway, I will write more later. Just mainly wanted to share that pic of Em.
